©, Copyright SHAPE America. The purpose of this article is to highlight the components of edTPA's academic language requirement, and specifically how that language is used in physical education. Examples of academic language forms in physical education are provided, as well as a discussion of the four components that compose the academic language demands of edTPA, namely function, vocabulary, syntax and discourse.
