About This Journal

Manuscripts that interpret the journal's focus on teaching and learning as it relates to the author's own work or to that of colleagues or practitioners in any field are accepted for consideration for publication. Submissions may include:

  • A research article chronicling an original study
  • An informed editorial on an issue relevant to the journal's focus
  • A book review about a work that is less than two years old and is written by a prominent author about a relevant topic related to the journal's focus
  • A special feature essay related to current events in the university or community that are in some way linked to the focus of the journal

Formatting

Manuscripts should be well-written and free of errors. Authors should strive for brevity, readability, and grammatical correctness. To facilitate the blind review process, the author(s) should remove all identifying information from the manuscript, including references. Manuscripts should be (1) doubled-spaced, (2) in 12-point Times New Roman font, and (3) in an electronic Microsoft Word file. Tables and figures must be camera ready and cited in the text where they are to appear. The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association can provide more specific guidelines. Manuscripts that are not in APA (7th edition) format and/or that do not meet the above guidelines will not be reviewed. After acceptance, the authors will be asked to reformat the manuscript using the template.

Review Process

Reviewers include the editorial board members and other interested faculty from the College. Upon receipt of the manuscript, it will be reviewed by one of the co-editors. Then, it will be referred to two of the journal's approved reviewers. During the blind-review process, reviewers consider the general importance and interest of the manuscript to the journal's readers, originality, scientific soundness, and the degree to which conclusions are supported by data. In addition, presentation, length, methods, data presentation, and statistical design are considered. The blind review process takes approximately two months. The co-editors make final decisions regarding publication based on the reviewers' feedback. The corresponding author will be notified of the editorial decision via email. Manuscripts accepted for publication are subject to copy editing. Following publication, the author(s) will receive the link to retrieve their article from the online journal.
