Abstract
A study examined preparation of white teachers for diverse classrooms. Primary participants were 13 preservice teachers attending Oregon State University and five African-American mentor teachers. Results showed that African-American mentor teachers played a critical role in producing culturally competent and successful white teachers of African-American students.
